About event

We invite to the opening of the exhibition Botanical Mystery, which will take place on 18. 7. 2025 at 18.00 Botanical Garden UPJŠ in Košice. The opening will be associated with a plant concert. He works with collections of the East Slovak Gallery (VSG) and the Botanical Garden (BZ) UPJŠ in Košice. It is based on the study of the unique mutual exchange of selected collections of these institutions. There are works of art in the Botanical Garden of UPJŠ in the Botanical Garden of the UPJŠ Botanical Garden and in the East Slovak Gallery on Alžbetina Street as part of the “Jungle” exhibition. The basis of both exhibitions is not only the exchange of collections, but also the awareness of the common priorities of both institutions - systematic collection, professional protection, scientific research, precise sorting, quality education and impressive experience for the audience. Andrea Čepiššáková, Lenka Glisníková, Katarína Magid Hládeková, Eva Jaroňová, Matouš Lipus). The concept works with a hypothesis that institutions can disrupt the established stereotypes of their internal processes, exposure and behavior of their visitors, and thus to the perception of culture and nature in a narrower and fundamental link. Plants and works are literally transplanted and transferred from one environment to another, so that they can “survive” under the given conditions. Their needs are a selection priority. It is therefore a completely different approach and a strict principle of selection, which is not only based on aesthetics. So -called. “Survivors”, whether plants or works, co -exist in the greenhouse and galleries and form symbiotic relationships. Both spaces had to be slightly modified and prepared so that the works and plants had everything they need for their lives. Thus, the viewer can perceive these needs more and observe in both spaces than they do. It becomes an active researcher and at the same time the object of research, as there is not only the exchange of collection objects, but also a visit. This suddenly finds himself in hybrid spaces that offer him other options for understanding the world. I would like this to research the habitat of 1 square meter. We can thoroughly explore it and find out very interesting information, but when we explore 1 square meter even a few meters further, we have the opportunity to compare and get a completely different and slightly more complex look. The adventure of research and research is one of the most exciting things that both institutions do. The main aim of the exhibitions is therefore theoretical and practical research of other forms and principles of exhibition, curation, writing texts and presentation of art. The benefit is to extend the professional discourse on the combination of related institutions, the expansion of the exhibition space and the mutual diversification of the audience. It also shows a new queer materiality, which combines various kinds of organic and inorganic materials, notes mutual hierarchy and relationships, the importance of any participation for the co -testing of life in any type of community. On the basis of cooperation and dialogue, there is an exchange of know how, information, acquisitions, viewers, values. The basic idea and concept of mirrors the parallels of both worlds and develops their endless branches and mutual benefits. Through the interconnection of botanical and artistic collections, it offers a new perspective on human relationship with the natural environment and its responsibility for its preservation for future generations, which are a priority for both institutions. Cooperation with the Eastern Slovak Gallery, which is the most renowned artistic institution in Košice, confirms that it is not just a short -term experiment, but a long -term vision and cooperation with artists and artistic institutions. The experiment is based on the cooperation of the UPJŠ Botanical Garden and shows the similarities of these two institutions in their focus on the preservation and protection of the national heritage - cultural and natural.
