We will start the 2024 Borderless Festival with the ceremonial opening of the exhibitions in the Slovak National Museum in Martin, which will be attended by their talented and award-winning authors Boris Németh and Kvet Nguyen. br/>The Transformation of Slovakia project, created in collaboration with Ján Viazaniček, captures the paradoxes of the Slovak landscape, its transformations and unchanging heritage. Németh's photographs will impress even those without knowledge of the Slovak context thanks to the universal language
photography.
The author has been a photographer for the magazine .těždeň for almost 20 years, he studied photography at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava, where in In 2011, he completed his doctoral studies. He won numerous awards for his work, triumphs in the prestigious Slovak Press Photo every year and was also nominated for World Press Photo. 🏆
KVET NGUYEN: LEFTOVER BODIES / ZÁTÁVAJÚCE TÉLA (2024)
Kvet Nguyen is a photographer, visual artist and currently a doctoral student at the Department of Photography and New Media (VŠVU). He regularly exhibits in Europe, but also in other parts of the world. He actively deals with the topics of otherness and identity not only in his artistic projects, but also opens an open discussion in interviews or other platforms. In 2018, together with Denník N, they prepared a report about the story of the Vietnamese in Slovakia, which was awarded the Journalism Award. She co-founded the community organization Vietnamese roots and also the art association five & pole.
"The content of the exhibition are photos from the private archive of Mrs. Božena Mosná, who donated the photos for the purposes of my doctoral research. The photos show one of the first groups of Vietnamese and Vietnamese women who have been coming to Czechoslovakia since 1967."
Entrance is free, after the opening the festival program continues with presentations next to the Bar Museum. ;) We look forward to seeing you!
