Close exhibition - Distant deals with the questions of identity and time search. It challenges the binary concept of close and distant, examining complex introspective or extriable relationships, geographical, cultural and psychological approach, which is expressed through the diversity of young contemporary art. It presents a selection of works by students of the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna, which were created in the Studio of Painting Art and Image / Abstration led by prof. Michaela Eichwald and Thomas Winkler and Art and Image / Context led by prof. Alice Creischer and Andreas Siekmann. Karen Barad writes in his essay on Touching - Thuman That Therefore I am am am "when two hands touch, the body senses, heat exchange, pressure, presence, proximity that approaches the other almost as close to himself. Maybe even closer. And if the two hands belong to one person, it couldn't revive the strange feeling of different oneself ... The welcome of the alien in himself? In touch, so much happens: there is infinity of others - other beings, other spaces, other times ... What is a peace of proximity? ” The proximity and distance are concepts that, though seemingly contradictory, often coexist in our lives. Physical and emotional proximity or distance may be interchangeable; Physical proximity may not be equal to a common understanding or experience, as well as emotional proximity can exist exclusively at the psychological level. Artists reflect the inner and outside world in their works, using the dynamic relationship between materiality and meaning. In addition to traditional painting media such as oil and acrylic, they also use non -traditional materials such as fabric, leather and found items, creating a hybrid platform that constantly changes in tension between elegance and expression. As Karen Barad suggests in the concept of agricial realism, materials are not only passive substances, but by active participants in the creation of meanings. The very process of painting, which is a physical act of touch, reveals that materials - pigments, textures and surfaces - are co -creators of artistic expression. The resulting works move from figuration to abstraction and back, looking for a form between chaos and order, reflecting such deep contrasts of life. Both cities were significantly tied until the beginning of the 20th century as part of Austria-Hungary. The essential factor of later different development was mainly the political division of Europe after the Second World War, which lasted until 1989. 25.3.3.2025
