A separate exhibition of Erik Šille entitled “We have problems, but at least not one” will not present this time the latest.
Images exhibited have a proven story that today complicates their further reading. They are based on the daily reality of the polycrys of the time, which is not only a buzzword annotation of socio-critical works and projects, but also something, with a way on the picture area in a tangle-cultural message, balances Šille constantly.
Is his ironic distance and a certain level of cringe strategy or symptom? What is the responsibility of artists and artists, whose works are explicitly involved in politics - for their possible interpretations or for their circulation on various institutional platforms?
Erik Šille (1978) studied at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava (2000-2006) at Professor Ivan Csudai, where he was a PhD student from 2006 to 2010. It was part of the microgneration of painters who took care of the legendary return of painting to Slovak contemporary art. It is not only devoted to his own work, but also passes his experience to students of drawings and paintings at the Department of Art and Education at the UKF in Nitra.
