About event
We invite you to the opening of the exhibition Erik Sikora - Wings of Motifs, which will take place on 16 July 2026 at 5 pm in the UPJŠ Botanical Garden in Košice.
Vernissage: 16/07/2026, 17.00
Curator: Zuzana Janečková
Duration of the exhibition: 17/07/2026 – 15/09/2026
Botanic garden UPJŠ, Mánesova 23, Košice
The exhibition entitled Wings of Motifs will present to the audience the latest work of multimedia artist Erik Sikora, who lives and works in Košice. It will be an extensive series of watercolors of various sizes, created especially for this exhibition in the Botanical Garden in cooperation with the East Slovak Gallery. Most of the watercolors will "grow and climb" in the greenhouse with butterflies, as the name of the exhibition itself refers to. As it will be - like last year - a two-house exhibition, part of the watercolors will also be hidden in the Moving Landscape in the courtyard of the main building of the Východoslovak Gallery. In both spaces, the works will be exposed to more extreme conditions related to changes in weather, temperature and humidity. Most of the watercolors will be adjusted between the glasses, so we can perceive them as other greenhouses, but a few of them will also be in direct interaction with the environment. Erik Sikora is known primarily for videos, music and performances, but now he has thrown himself into painting and he really enjoys it. This exhibition will be a real feast for the eyes, and since Erik is not only from Džumelec, it will also be a great adventure - a journey into the center of watercolor.
Východoslovenská gallery in cooperation with the Botanical Garden of the University of Pavel Jozef Šafárik in Košice.
16. 7., 17.00-18.00, UPJŠ Botanical Garden, Mánesova 23, Košice
Entrance is free.
