About event
Jurča's exhibition is dedicated to the personality of Joseph Jurča, Trnava artist and teacher, whose birth has passed in March 100 years. However, this is not a retrospective effort, to summarize the entire author's work. The aim of the exhibition is to bring to Jurča a new, inspection view, but thinking about his personality through the exhibition extends more generally to the character "man - sculptor" active in the company of the second half of the 20th century in the then Czechoslovakia. For a more comprehensive understanding of this phenomenon, the exhibition is further developed outside the field of sculptural work, as already from the name implies, to the person Vlasta, Jurč's life partner. From there he then continues to other women who moved in the author's proximity during a large part of his life and actively co -founded him. Among them will include an important place to the hostess of the exhibition, sculptural granddaughter Barbara Jurčová, who also married a track of visual art and is currently studying intermedia at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava. The wider creative team, composed of students and students of Trnava University, also participated in the preparations of the exhibition project.
We believe that a critical, feminist and contextual view of Joseph Jurča will help to re -define some concepts and concepts of the history of the second half of the last century, or open space for brand new ones.
