About event
We invite you to the opening of the exhibition Do you have an artistic gut? ZVUK x TICHO, which will take place on 28 May 2026 at 18.00 in the premises of the Východoslovak Gallery at Hlavná 27 in Košice.
What do we hear when we listen to silence? And how do we imagine sound?
The exhibition presents the final projects of the 10th year of the art competition Do you have a gut?, which is part of an international educational platform connecting Fr. Author teams of high school and gymnasium students developed their projects on the theme of Sound and Silence over several months.
This year's theme opens up wide possibilities for thinking about two apparent opposites that significantly shape our perception of the world. Sound can be viewed as a physical phenomenon, but also as an inner experience; to silence, in the intentions of peace, emptiness or silence. The presented works suggest that these positions cannot be perceived separately, but rather as a shifting tension of meanings and situations.
The languages of music and visual arts often overlap, and concepts such as rhythm and composition are found in both. Likewise, the exhibition presents various artistic approaches and intermedial overlaps that cross the boundaries between audio and visual. The projects oscillate between a personal statement and a broader reflection of society, they work with sensory experience, conceptual reasoning and interactive involvement of the audience. The works approach sound as a material that can be (not) heard, deformed, translated or materialized.
Platform Do you have an artistic gut? in the long term, it creates space for young people who want to develop their interest in contemporary art, experiment and formulate their own opinions. At the same time, the exhibition represents an opportunity to bring their statements to a wider audience.
We thank the partners and cooperating cultural institutions that you have an artistic gut? they support and thus enable its implementation. Thanks also to the teachers for their support and mentoring of the teams in the creation process.
