About event
We invite you to the opening of Radka Bodzewicz's exhibition ✨
Radka Bodzewicz's work has long been based on literary inspirations - reading poetry, prose and professional and philosophical texts. Subjects and themes that he finds in literature and that he perceives as timeless, he updates through his unique visual language into extensive, conceptually and expressively tight image cycles, in which he often combines classical art procedures with an overlap into new technologies. For the exhibition at the Center for Contemporary Art DOX, she decided to follow up with an artistic reflection on another of the iconic literary works – Goethe's Faust.
The story of Doctor Faustus is understood by Radka Bodzewicz as an expression of the Jungian principle of archetypes of human desire, which spring from deep-seated patterns of experience and are – in literary (and simplified) terms – the motivation, driver and builder of human destinies. In the universal conflict of good and evil, Faust, performed by Radka Bodzewicz, is the embodiment of our own stories: about the endless desire for knowledge, love, power, fame or crossing the limits of the possible, and about the fatality and irreversibility of our own decisions, our own contracts with the devil.

We invite you to the opening of Radka Bodzewicz's exhibition FAUST ✨
Radka Bodzewicz has long drawn inspiration from literary sources – from poetry, prose, and even scholarly or philosophical texts. With her distinctive visual language, she updates the timeless subjects and themes that she finds in literature, rendering them in extensive, conceptually and expressively cohesive series in which she often combines classical artistic techniques with elements of new technologies. For the exhibition at the DOX Center for Contemporary Art she has decided to continue this artistic reflection with another iconic literary work – Goethe’s Faust.
Bodzewicz interprets the story of Doctor Faust as an expression of the Jungian archetypes of human desire, which originate in deeply ingrained patterns of experience and are – to put it in (simplified) literary terms – the motivation, driving force, and architect of human destinies. Thus, in the universal conflict between good and evil, Faust, as portrayed by Radka Bodzewicz, is the embodiment of our own stories about the endless craving for knowledge, love, power, and fame and our desire to transcend the boundaries of what is possible – tales of the fatefulness and irreversibility of our own decisions, our own pacts with the devil.
