The international artistic project Re- (T) Exhile comes to Trnava to open a discussion of what is happening to our clothes when we stop wearing it. Author team Martinka Bobrikova, Oscar de Carmen & María Alejandra Gatti presents an exhibition that thematizes textile waste, ecological crisis and global inequality. The project was created in response to the growing problems of the textile industry - its environmental impacts, overproduction and unsustainable distribution of used clothing, which often ends in the countries of the global south. The first phase of the project took place in 2024 at the Lagos, Nigerian, Nigeria, where a large -format object was created from more than 500 pieces of secondhand clothing.

Trnava version of the installation is adapted to the Slovak context. The author team mapped local recycling processes and cooperated with community initiatives such as a flashlight or students of the School of Design - SŠUP Bohumil Bača. The result is a new textile building that was created from the clothing collected through the open call and sewn collectively during the workshop. The exhibition is complemented by video documentation from Nigeria and Slovakia, which approaches how textile waste travels the world - and what impact it leaves. Re- (t) Exhile is not only an artistic project, but a challenge to change. We think, create, sew, recycle - and ask: What else is the material? And what is waste already? Can textiles have a second life - and we with it a new relationship with him? Zuzana Pastirčák Duchová, Juraj Plesník, Lenka Pšenčíková, Vivien Pomajbo, Jana Reháková, Alexandra Šebo, Žaneta Štrbková, Marek Tanka, Lujza Taligová, Henrieta Tholt, Ľubica Vargová, Batterkáren, School of Design - Art School of Art Industry, Natur Pack, PR Krajné, s. r. o., SK-TEX, p. r. o.
