The exhibition Regula, organized on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the death of the artist and Franciscan Teodor Jozef Tekel, is an original interpretation of his work, which was prepared by the artist Dalibor Bača for the extension of the Koppel villa of the Ján Koniark Gallery. Bač's contemporary object and spatial installation becomes a visual reflection on perseverance, deep conviction, asceticism and renunciation. In it, he articulates the connection between the extraordinary scope and at the same time the intimacy of Tekel's work.

The common denominator of both, at first glance so different authors, is reduction and strictness, especially towards themselves. Bača has been dealing with the themes of renunciation, asceticism and fasting for a long time, which he also finds in Tekel's life. Persecuted by the communist regime, he lived his life in a sign of material poverty, understood as the key to fulfilling faith. After he was forbidden to carry out public artistic and spiritual activities, he indulged in them in solitude and secrecy, while they became a kind of obsessive therapy for him. In the case of Bač's installation, materials such as glass and iron are a metaphor for the tension between fragility and resistance, but also consistency and conviction.

Jozef Tekel (*1902 - +1975) was born in today's Ľuboticy in the Prešov district. In 1917, he entered the order of the Friars Minor - Franciscans, and the year after that, in 1918, he took his first vows. At that time, he adopted the religious name Theodore. He worked in monasteries in Hlohovec, Nitra, Bardejov and Malacky. In the years 1930 – 1934, he completed his studies at the Prague Academy of Fine Arts under prof. Max Švabinský. On April 14, 1950, during the so-called On Barbarian Night, along with hundreds of other religious men and women, he was forcibly taken to the internment camp in Hronské Beňadik and later in Belušské Slatine. After his release from internment, he settled in Trnava, where he lived until his death on July 14, 1975.

Dalibor Bača (*1973) is a sculptor of the middle generation with a critical view of society, also interested in public space. He was a founding member of OZ Verejný Podstavet. He is known, for example, for the bust of Doc. JUDr. Robert Fico, CSc. guerilla installed in front of the no longer existing House of Trade Unions - Istropolis on the Trnava Mýto in Bratislava. In 2019, he received the BIELA KOCKA award - Award of the Council of Galleries of Slovakia for the Definitively Unfinished project in the New Synagogue in Žilina (2018). He is a member of the Bohumil Baču Private School of Art Industry.
