Vernisáž Tomáša Hrica - Creatures

The exhibition Creatures by Tomáš Hric brings a look to the author's inner world and his reflections on psychology. In its work, Hric examines the inner understanding and analysis of human emotions, subconscious and imagination - the space where our personal "monsters / Creatures" - conscious and unconscious. The colors are applied to the surface of the canvas or wood randomly, gradually transforming into organic shapes and characters that reveal the hidden, sometimes dark corners of our psyche. These “monsters” symbolize internal conflicts, fears, desires and feelings that we are not always fully aware of. Through expressive painting, assemblies and combined techniques, it transforms them into physical form and discharges them to the surface. Their incorporation into the work refers to the reuse of the object of its function and story. We all have our inner struggles and beings that are hidden in our subconscious. Hric's work is also a mirror of our own emotional processes. He graduated from the High School of Applied Art in Ružomberok and History and Art Theory at the University of Sts. Cyril and Methodius in Trnava, where he won the title of Mgr. His first inspiration was a street graffiti scene, which also motivated him to paints on canvas, creation of assemblies, statues and installations. His characteristic manuscript is the thin lines bounding and highlighting objects or spontaneous, intuitive shapes that transform into characters and characters.
