We invite you to the Friday opening of two exhibitions at Rozkvet Gallery. We will open the year 2026 in the gallery with the exhibition Nothing by the author Zuzana Kosec and the exhibition Anomália, the author of which is Samuel Čenger.

Zuzana Kosec will present the project Nothing, with which she successfully completed her master's degree at the Academy of Arts in Banská Bystrica in 2024. In the project, he works with the topic of mental health. The text-art work composed of over 100 image formats is based on personal notes or statements. Kosec focuses on apathy, which is not given as much attention as other psychological problems. Its importance is generally underestimated and misunderstood. The work Nothing confuses the viewer's gaze. The author does not use the property of the visual work to "show itself". Nothing speaks and states with a muted language that we notice when we pay closer attention to the work. We need to interact with it, approach it and observe it from different angles. At first glance, the self-reflexive work also expresses current social feelings arising from crises and regarding motivation, values and the topic of mental health in general.

Samuel Čenger's project in the central multimedia mini-film Anomaly expresses alienation and isolation. What is the environment from which we start, this home historically established from seemingly normatively given social structures, towards us, if we do not fit into them? In the project, the author argues with the problematic nature of tradition in relation to personal identity. Hiding is a national tradition for your body, he writes in the poem of the project. He varies and animates the ornament of folk embroidery from the Tekov region, while formulating the question whether this ethnographic heritage originating in communities with defined social roles also belongs to him, as a queer person. The project also reflects the fact that the folklore tradition has been a long-term and currently, unfortunately, especially, tool for attacking persons and values that do not belong to the heteronormative narrative. This fact greatly complicates the relationship to the home location, both as such and specifically, and its culture.
