About event

Dear ladies and gentlemen,

We cordially invite you to the opening of the exhibition

Denisa Ponomarevová and Svätopluk Mikyta | Intensity Core

Opening: Friday, May 15, 2026 at 6 p.m.

For Denisa Ponomarevová and Svätopluk Mikyta, drawing is a basic communication tool based on intensive observation. Their artistic strategy is deep immersion resulting from the need to mentally scan, record and respond to the subjective experience of the inner and outer world.
"Intensity Core" is not a topic, but a state. The structure of creative expansion, internal pressure and introspection. A space of active associations, concentrated drawing loops, emo-visual signs and ruler grids, the material definition of which is the paper format.

Denisa Ponomarevová (*1998, CZ) is a graduate of the drawing and graphics studio at the Faculty of Fine Arts, BUT. The author presented her work at several solo and group exhibitions in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. He also regularly participates in group exhibitions and festivals, such as LUSTR in Prague, Fata Morgana in Brno or Probiotic Comedy in Banská Štiavnica. In 2024, she completed a residency at G99 Gallery in Brno, and her works are also represented in private collections.
Ponomarevová works with hypothetical and personal symbolism of digital space and internet communication. Her work refers to the emoticon system and simplified visual forms or signs present in the virtual environment. He breaks down their meaning through drawing and material (textile) elements, which are often part of a larger whole or site-specific installations, and therefore it is necessary to perceive them as such. In her work, the author organically reacts to the ambivalence, reactivity, apparent happiness, overpressure, toxicity and elusiveness not only of virtual feelings and affects, but also to how the digital age affects and changes us in relation to ourselves and others.

Svätopluk Mikyta (*1973, SK) is a visual artist and university teacher, co-founder of the residential platform Banská St a nica Contemporary. He lives and works in Ilija, Banská Štiavnica and Brno. He is a member of the Association of Ceramists of Slovakia. Since 2011, he has been leading the Drawing and Graphics Studio at the Faculty of Fine Arts of BUT in Brno. In 2003 he was a finalist for the Oskar Čepan Award, in 2008 he became its laureate. In 2011, he won the main Strabag Art Award. In 2022, he was nominated for the Queen Sonja Print Award. He attended numerous symposia and residencies from New York to Bern. His works are represented in almost all important Slovak public collections, but also in MUDAM Collection Luxemburg, The Art Institute of Chicago, Hungarian national gallery Budapest, Museum of Applied Arts Prague and many private foreign collections.
The author works on drawing, graphics, ceramics, glass, photography. He experiments innovatively with "traditional" techniques, which he connects into rich installation units. In recent years, in connection with intensive movement and stay in the countryside, he collects natural materials, organic material, mushrooms, stones, bark and other natural objects, but also plastic waste or metal fragments "forgotten" in fields and forests in an attempt to build a natural, closer to man and more sustainable visuality based on the principles of appropriation and recycling.
