About event
Dear art lovers,
Let us invite you to the exhibition and the opening of the exhibition
Jiří Baštýř - Thrown Into the Muddy Waters
which will take place on Wednesday 7.5. 2025 from 18:00 to 22:00 in The Chemistry Gallery, Hall 40, Holešovice Market, Bubenské nábřeží 306, Prague 7.
The exhibition will last from 8.5. to 8.6. 2025.
djs at the vernissage: Lucas Hulan & Stessie Tfgn The author of the built tension is more sharpened and in a way burning with every second. Despite this, Baštýř's paintings have the ability to evil the viewer, surround it and make it perceived by the specific atmosphere that radiates from the works. The central motive of the exhibited works are muddy characters, the author of the hypothetical doubles, a kind of entity with which the viewer interacts. They are silent figures that speak to you only through grimas and expressions on their faces. The most evil are figures with a staring look that get us into situations that the author himself describes as "something" you meet in the dark. You see it, it sees you and you both want you to pass in the dark, but at the same time in the rank "something" you will recognize. The bastard encourages us with his paintings to look inside us, but not to places that are known to us, but into unexplored and dark corners of our consciousness and subconscious, but we have to go without light on this journey into the darkness. According to well -known psychologist Carl Gustav Jung, knowledge of his own darkness is the best method to deal with the darkness of other people and similarly works Baštýř's paintings that allow us to look into our own darkness.
. Despite the fact that it is one of the topics that we can observe in the author's work, it is not inserted artificially here, on the contrary, it arises naturally and is a kind of mirror of society. After all, one of us nowadays does not have our digital double, living a "better version" of our lives, while our real self stuck in a tangible world has to wash clothes, earn a living, deal with inconvenience, while our digital double is materialized on opportunities for pleasant holidays, study and career achievements and walks at sunset. The Thrown Into The Muddy Waters exhibition "throws" us into the dark waters of our own. Baštýř's paintings draw us like a deep river mud and at the moment we are waiting at least, we can see ourselves in reflection.
