About event

The opening of the exhibition (micro)territory of infinity, which connects the work of Erika Szőka and Michaela Šuranská, will take place on August 3 at 6:00 p.m.

In small stories they find big ones and vice versa. In the fragments of the inanimate and living world, they map the structures building stars, nebulae, galaxies and the entire universe. (Micro)Territory of Infinity explores stories that don't just move linearly and forward like grand narratives of (predominantly patriarchal) histories, views, illusions and visions. They present and make room for narratives and marginal agents, not always visible or clearly defined. Home, kitchen, garden, ruin, the human (sometimes burnt out) mind can become a place of impulses to reevaluate old structures, the birthplace of new flashes, territories and even stars.

The exhibition in the Zichy Old Town Gallery brings more perspectives and points of view, when it is more important who is looking than what specifically. While Erika Szőke oscillates between the author's experimental photography and the object, visual art and scientific principles, Michaela Šuranská experiments with painting and its breakthrough into space in the form of subjective archeology built on philosophical-sociological issues. The intervention (micro)territories of infinity contains the individual fields of the subject, but also the related views of both exhibitors. The creation of author Erika Szőka's works was supported in the form of a scholarship by Kult Minor – a fund for the support of the culture of national minorities.
