The French Institute in Slovakia invites you to the opening of the Year of Good News exhibition, which will take place on December 4.

The exhibition builds on the success of the book of the same name from 2021, which was created during the pandemic as a personal initiative of the author to spread positive stories. The Year of Good News quickly became an international phenomenon: readers started sending their own messages of encouragement, schools set up bulletin boards for good deeds, and exhibitions of Smatan's works traveled across Europe.

The current exhibition highlights the author's efforts to draw attention to goodness, compassion and unobtrusive heroism in times when the world is facing uncertainty. Each story is processed with typical finesse, precision of detail and the original ability to transform an ordinary textile into a poetic image.

Part of the opening will be a meeting with Martin Smatan, with the opportunity to talk with the author about his work, the technique of textile illustrations and the stories that inspire him, a creative textile workshop for children and adults - the production of small textile works under the guidance of lecturers. Free French demonstration lessons will also be included.
