About event

December 10 is Human Rights Day, when the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was adopted in 1948.

On this occasion, we cordially invite you to the opening of the exhibition dedicated to Ales Bjaljacké, the imprisoned laureate of the Nobel Peace Prize (2022) and the first ever holder of the Václav Havel Prize for Human Rights (2013).

The exhibition brings closer the life and work of this important Belarusian human rights activist and draws attention to the alarming situation in the field of human rights in Belarus. Through photographs, documents and works of art, visitors can learn about his courage and tireless fight for freedom and democracy.
The opening will take place on December 10 at 5:30 p.m. in Foyer A Areál Jinonice, U Kříže 661/8, Prague 5 – Jinonice.

The program will include speeches by the dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences of Charles University, representative Václav Havel Library and the director of the Office of the Democratic Forces of Belarus in the Czech Republic.
