Even hardened agnostics, anti-Semites and heretics of the first hour were usually unable to refuse insight into this empirically well-documented tradition. And when ash crosses are distributed in the Catholic church on Ash Wednesday today, it is seen as a reminder not to overestimate your own performance in the fight for existence in the
old apartment you paid for yourself or the dilapidated house in the Uckermark countryside and to keep in mind the fact that the
earth furniture is already ready for everyone traveling with you.
Death is a mess just like hemorrhoids and oat milk and anyone who tries to escape it (lately by putting it on ice for centuries) is
a pig themselves. What are the poor younger generation supposed to do with all these doddering old people from the last centuries? Imagine if Joseph Goebbels had made it this far and would now be leading the AfD in the election campaign after his successful resurrection as interim president. It's also nice to imagine da Vinci appearing at Max Hetzler's vernissage by Albert Oehlen. But I digress, because BEFORE death there is still life that wants to be lived, absurd and difficult to understand, yet hardly avoidable.
Before Ash Wednesday comes the carnival, carne vale, the maudlin farewell celebration from meat, which is mainly appreciated by breast-grabbers and drunks,
accompanied by great gluttony and all sorts of excesses in relevant parts of the country also celebrated as the fifth season, the beginning of which, to the ruin of the treacherous
geese, has been perfidiously placed on November 11th, the day of the boarding refuser (Martin) from Tours
and from which we are just the third day away as of the opening day of this exhibition.
So cheers to vice, idiocy and stupidity - a holiday from the crazy self, at least for a few days a year, before you ruefully admit it to yourself:
The future used to be better, at least when Dean Moriarty drove to Mexico in the '49 Ford.
But how should we deal with the annoying present? Anyone who capitulates to this question is strongly recommended to visit this exhibition.
All sorts of productions are gathering here, the essence of which is to rebel against the unavoidable and yet remain in comfort, to register a protest against the great mess
just as against the fart art bully bully. Colossal or most fragile artifacts that testify to how easy, beautiful and terrible it can be to defend yourself, in anger or calm, against the great harrow that is always ready to plow you into the ground of oblivion. The materializations of some metaphysical reflections on the topic are also collected here. What if it continues without a break in the freezer after a quick check from the highest point in a more beautiful place?
What happened to grandma and grandpa, can they see my new fingernails? And then who has to burn in hell? The hemorrhoid maker or the
inventor of inflatable lip fashion?
Many questions to which this exhibition does not have all the answers, but poses many new puzzles with the help of outstandingly good art.
