Learn everything about making a documentary during our VERS event on December 2. In conversation with makers Wytzia Soetenhorst, Aster Reinboud and Juliette Dominicus, all aspects are discussed and you can ask all your questions!
Based on a panel discussion, the makers share how they approach a documentary project; where to start; what are the pitfalls and how do you ultimately get your documentary out into the world? Established maker Wytzia can share all the ins and outs of the world with you, novice maker Juliette tells you exactly how to develop your first film, and producer Aster gives you insight into perspective from a producer. So for anyone who finally wants to make that documentary: this is your chance!

Wytzia Soetenhorst
Wytzia Soetenhorst has been active as a documentary maker for years. . She does this as a researcher and also as a director. Including her films The incomprehensible death of Mitchel (2019) and De Zandvoort formula(2020) she shows that she has all the knowledge to help you get started with your documentary. In the spring of 2025, her last film Omarm me, about the 21-year-old severely disabled Freek, will be broadcast by the NPO. In this, Freek literally gets a voice for the first time.

Juliette Dominicus
Juliette Dominicus is a young maker who, after her training in Documentary and Fiction, started working as a documentary maker at the University of Amsterdam. She has now made the successful filmsIndisch Zwijgen (2022) and Tussen Wal en Schip (2024) to her name and she works as an autonomous filmmaker. Her work is personal and discusses themes such as origins, identity and cultures of silence. She has been voted FD Talent of 2023 by the Financieel Dagblad.

Aster Reinboud
Aster Reinboud can tell you everything about her work as a producer from DOCS by Pupkin. She has been working at production company Pupkin for ten years and has gained a wealth of experience during that time. First as a development producer and researcher for fiction projects, for the past two years she has had her own documentary label within the company as a documentary producer. Her varied work makes her the perfect producer to learn everything from.

Yula Altchouler
Yula Altchouler is an independent program maker, interviewer and moderator. She also guides (beginning) makers and devises impact strategies. In her work she focuses on creating understanding, exchange and the feeling of connection.
