About event
Summer cinema Troja in Trojský pivovar presents:
Vesničko má středisková
Pábitelská chronicle of rural life, nominated for an Oscar in 1987, is one of the highlights of director Jiří Menzel's filmography. He collaborated with Zdenek Svěrák for the third time after the films Kdo nýda zlaté dno (1974) and Alone at the Forest (1976). At the same time, the filming of his script was not originally considered. Svěrák was inadvertently paid twice for the subject for the film Alone at the Forest. Co-founder of the Theater Jára Cimrman therefore hastily wrote a few pages of text to comply with the bureaucratic apparatus. However, Jiří Menzel liked the premise so much that he initiated the creation of a full-fledged literary basis. The episodic portrait of a central Czech village is built around the uncertain friendship of men with contrasting personalities, cooperative truck driver Pávek (Marián Labuda) and his mentally disabled assistant Otík (János Bán). The peacock wants to get rid of the unreliable protégé after the harvest. Otík would therefore be transferred to Prague. But the naive trucker is not ready for life in the big city. The young man's broad smile and headphones are inherent to the idyllic village color. It also includes the hot-tempered Turk (Petr Čepek), jealous of his wife Jana (Libuše Šafránková), or the eternally dreamy Dr. Skružný (Rudolf Hrušínský), who likes to enjoy the beauty of the Czech landscape while driving.
