Pre-Christmas and Christmas customs, carolers and Nicholas with the angel and the devil, making Christmas decorations, baking Christmas wafers, decorating gingerbread houses. / Advent and Christmas customs include carol singers and St. Nicholas, along with making Christmas decorations, baking waffles, and decorating gingerbread.
Let yourself be drawn into the whirlwind of traditional customs of the pre-Christmas and Christmas period. On Sunday, December 7, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. carols and carols accompanying the last event of this year, Christmas in the Village, will be heard in the area of the Slovak Village Museum.
Christmas program in the wooden church from Rudno starting at 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. will be presented by the Sklabina Folklore Group and the Children's Folklore Ensemble Deti spod Borinka from Sklabina. In their program, they will show you how Christmas was once celebrated in Sklabin and the Turks. As part of this, they will present Christmas carols, church songs and a walk with a Christmas star.
The Children's Folklore Ensemble Lúčik from Turčianske Teplíce will introduce you to the whirlwind of traditional Sturgeon days at 11:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m., which will show you how the fences once shook on Ondrej and a girl dressed as "Lucky" with goose wings will sweep away all bad things from you.
Next you can look forward to Nicholas with the devil and an angel, who will reward all obedient and disobedient children according to their merits. An integral part of the event will also be Andrew's fortune-telling in the estate from Hruštín and demonstrations of wafer baking on the wafer in the estate from Jasenová. You will see the decoration of gingerbread houses and demonstrations of making Christmas decorations from straw, wire, corncob leaves or dough at the Petrovice school.
A creative workshop will be prepared for the youngest visitors in the estate from Moškovec, where they will be able to make traditional decorations for the Christmas tree. The program will also include demonstrations of traditional folk and artistic production connected with sales.
At 1:30 p.m. will be held in the wooden church from Rudno. a. v. services of God made more pleasant by playing the harmonium.
At the same time, during the entire event, in the church you can admire the installed historical nativity scene from the collections of the Slovak National Museum in Martin.
