About event
Christmas concert of early baroque music - Prešov
Transport yourself to the times of the early modern era and enjoy the wonderful baroque music from the 17th century, which after centuries comes to life again on concert stages.
The concert will present the works of Ján Šimrák senior, organist and respected councilor from Spišské Podhradie, which reveal the unique musical heritage of the towns of Spiš. The compositions of Juraj Wirsinger, rector of the Latin school in Spišská Nová Ves, and the exceptional work of the Italian composer Giovanni G. Kapsperger will also be heard.
Kapsperger's oratorio Il Pastori di Bettelemme tells the story of the Bethlehem night in pictures - through the eyes of the shepherds to whom the angel announces the birth of Christ.
Program:
Giovanni G. Kapsperger | Figlio Dormi
Ján Šimrák st. | Domine ad adjuvandum me festina
Juraj Wirsinger | Missa à 6
Ján Šimrák st. | Richte mich Gott, Magnificat sexti toni, Jauchzet dem Herren, alle Welt!
Giovanni G. Kapsperger | Il Pastori di Bettelemme
