About event

The master of Brazilian bossa nova with a flavor of avant-garde, electronica and contemporary jazz arrives with a new project Psychedelic Rio

The teammate of the biggest Brazilian superstar Caetano Velosa returns to Prague to present the new album Psychedelic Rio (2024) with his trio. Composer, guitarist, percussionist, drummer and singer Vinicius Cantuária is considered the successor of Tom Jobim and Caetan Velosa, in whose band he worked. He is one of the most important figures in new Brazilian music and absolutely essential for the expansion of this genre beyond the borders of Brazil. He often combines traditional bossa nova with electronics and contemporary jazz techniques. He has been living in New York since 1995, where he has become a leading figure in the New York downtown jazz scene. He collaborated with leading jazz and avant-garde artists such as Marc Ribot, Bill Frisell, David Byrne, Laurie Anderson or Arto Lindsay. In Prague, he will present a completely new project and the album of the same name, Psychedelic Rio.
