DUST IN THE GROOVE
Dust in the Groove, a project on the border between experimental jazz and contemporary music, has been operating in variable lineups since 2014. The original music of leader Radim Hanousek gives a lot of space to individual and collective improvisation and the search for new sound possibilities.
Most of the members are active in the field of experimental jazz and contemporary music, which makes it possible to cover both interpretive emotional positions, expressive jazz and precise and delicate timbre. The ensemble actively cooperates with the Norwegian composer and trumpeter Didrik Ingvaldsen and the Swiss composer and trombonist Roland Dahinden, as well as with artists (Natalie Perkof, Olga Piperová, Veronika Vlková, Lenka Pilařová) and dance performers (Orbita, Filigrán).
In 2018 and 2021, DITG obtained residency in Switzerland.
In addition to concert activities, this project is also devoted to workshops for children and clients with mental disabilities.
In July 2020, DITG released their second album on the Slovak label Hevhetia.
Festivals: New Music Exhibition, Ostrava Days, Prague Music Performance, FAUN, Bach's Organ Autumn, New Music Plus Meeting, Žižkov meets jazz, United Islands, Melomania, Freejazz Prague

VIENNA IMPROVISERS ORCHESTRA
The VIENNA IMPROVISERS ORCHESTRA has been exploring the absolute ad hoc praxis of instant composition conducting since 2004, engaging in a discourse on newer concepts of non-notated sound organization for large ensembles. Course and progression are influenced and structured by the Instant Composition Conductor with a vocabulary of hand-signs, e.g. for dynamics or timbre, or groupings of instruments, which are interpreted and developed by the ensemble on the basis of free improvisation, - and the newly appearing textures restructured by the conductor. Instant Composition Conducting works in continuity with Lawrence D. Butch Morris' method 'Conduction', but has been developed over time by artistic director and conductor Michael Fischer as a praxis of absolute ad hoc creation by the ensemble and the conductor, no prepared or agreed parts/structures, no rehearsals, but only a brief trial of the hand-signs before the concert; the Instant Compositions have a length of 35-50 minutes, and each concert features a new ensemble constellation, and usually at least one new musician as well.
MICHAEL FISCHER works on the speech immanence of sounds and their dramatic evidence, on the tenor saxophone/feedback saxophone, on soundscapes, and as an instant composition conductor for numerous international improvisation orchestras and temporary large ensembles for festivals and guest lectures/ universities in Europe, Canada, the USA and Japan.
The VIO was founded by Michael Fischer in 2004; it is one of the earliest and continuously working improvisation orchestras.
