BR 2025, 112 min., Director: Andrucha Waddington
With: Fernanda Montenegro, Linn da Quebrada, Thawan Lucas
The true story from 2005 on which this film is based shocked the whole of Brazil: Nina, an elderly woman played by screen icon Fernanda Montenegro, lives alone in Rio de Janeiro. When she looks out her window, she sees the worst crimes every day. There is dealing, shooting, shouting, murder - in front of everyone. She's had enough of the madness and decides to do something about it. She buys a video camera, firmly believing that the scenes she documented from the window would finally persuade the police to take action. And she actually brings sensational material to the presidency. Although she is initially dismissed as a cranky old woman, a reporter takes the matter into account and discovers why the police in this place act so strangely inefficiently. Nina herself is targeted, and then her little friend Marcinho from the neighborhood, for whom she is a "surrogate grandma", is also drawn into the conflict. Nina (interpreted by Fernanda Montenegro), a beautiful woman, lives in Rio de Janeiro. Cansada do caos, ela decide fazer algo a respeito.
