About event

The November continuation of the Vivat vox organi international organ festival will be dedicated to the theme of the Gentle Revolution. Two themed events are planned, at which organ and electronic music will be performed by the Austrian organist and improviser Michael Koller. The music will be interspersed with Daniel Pastirčák's meditations, and there will also be a visual exhibition of his artwork.

Job in the Cathedral

Daniel Pastirčák and Michael Koller are a proven combination of deep, almost mystical, artistic work, which will be heard on Saturday, November 15, 2025 at 7:15 p.m., in the František Xaverský Cathedral, on Nám. SNP in Banská Bystrica. It will be the third and at the same time the last continuation of the festival cycle Organ and meditation, during the current year.

Daniel Pastirčák currently works as a preacher of the Church of the Brethren in Bratislava. He is also a successful poet, novelist and essayist whose literary works have won several important awards. In addition to literature, he also works for the theater and visual arts. He is also coming to Banská Bystrica, at the international organ festival Vivat vox organi, to present his artistic work. For his meditations, in the days when we commemorate the 35th anniversary of the Gentle Revolution, he prepared an image of the Old Testament character Job - a person suffering innocently, whose suffering is similar to many who are hard-pressed and persecuted, during the period of communism, but also today. The painting will be exhibited during the event and will be part of Daniel's meditations. In addition to his artistic creations, he will also share his spirituality with the participants of the event in the form of meditations that were created and were inspired by the Old Testament book of Job.

Michael Koller describes himself as a musical painter. Behind the organ, he discovers completely new possibilities for its sound. He experiments with the air and conducts a dialogue with the organ. His music is not formal, as if he paints pictures in a wide range of musical possibilities: from classical tonality to rough atonal passages. It comes from Austria. After completing his education, he worked as an organist in an organist's workshop in Krems / Danube. He is a graduate of church music studies in Vienna and in St. Pölten. His professors are Peter Planyavsky, Otto Kargl and Michael Kitzinger. He completed his master's degree in organ under the direction of Pierre Pincemaille and Rupert Gottfried Frieberger. He currently works as a project manager in Austrian television and is also a conductor and organist in several churches in Austria.

Entrance fee for the event is €8.
The rest is paid from the public resources of the Art Support Fund. With the financial support of BBSK, the city of Banská Bystrica, the EPH Foundation.

Organ and literature in the Green Room

This time, Daniel Pastirčák will return to the Green Room, in Thurz's house, with a selection from his own work. The selection will be inspired by the theme of the Gentle Revolution, whose 36th anniversary will be commemorated in November this year. The reading with a concert will take place on the eve of Nežna, Sunday, November 16, 2025 at 4:00 p.m. The venue for this event will be the historically, architecturally and artistically valuable Green Hall of Thurz's House, on Námestí SNP in Banská Bystrica. The musical enrichment of the reader's atmosphere, in an important historical hall, will once again belong to the excellent musician Michael Koller, from Austria.
