Ars Antiqua Austria
Austrian baroque music is the center of the repertoire of this unusual baroque ensemble. Elements of folk music from Slavic, Hungarian and Alpine regions then permanently influenced artificial music and gave it a specific sound. However, the Austrian sound also reflects the temperament and character of the Austrians of that time, people located at the crossroads of many different cultures. It combines the joy of life of the southerners, the melancholy of the Slavs, the formalism of the French, the courtly etiquette of the Spanish and the original Alpine character of the German-speaking area. This mixture of court and folk music, with a touch of dance, forms a typical Austrian sound.
The first years for Ars Antiqua Austria, in addition to numerous concert performances, were completely marked by the musical-scientific processing of the works of Austrian baroque composers. Several successful premiere recordings were created from the rich fund of rediscovered works. Their musical arrangements have earned enthusiastic response among international professional reviewers. Since 2002, Ars Antiqua Austria has been organizing its own concert cycle in the Vienna Konzerthaus and since 2008 also in the Brucknerhaus Linz. The ensemble conducts a multi-year concert cycle consisting of a total of 90 concerts in the cities of Vienna, Prague, Budapest, Bratislava, Krakow, Venice, Ljubljana, Mechelen and Lübeck. This body is a welcome guest throughout Europe, but also in the USA and Japan. Several of the early music recordings of this group have been awarded the most prestigious world awards, such as Diapason d`or or Cannes Classical Award.
Since, despite the complicated times in culture, the Vivat vox organi festival wants to remain socially sensitive and take into account the individual possibilities of its participants, the entrance fee will be collected in such a way that the visitors themselves determine its amount from €10 (minimum) to €15 (ideal). The concert will take place on Saturday, June 27, 2026 at 7:30 p.m. in the Cathedral of St. František Xaverský, on Náměstí SNP in Banská Bystrica.
