We invite you to the next concert of the international organ festival Vivat vox organi 2026. This time it will be a concert of flashinets. Or, if you prefer, vermicelli! Or automatic phones? Their sound will transport us to the times when the city streets resounded with the melodies of old waltzes, polkas, marches and popular classical melodies or folk songs.
Flašinet, also called verklík, is a mechanical musical instrument. The music in it is created by turning the crank, which drives the bellows that supply air to the pipes. Melodies are stored on a wooden cylinder or a paper or cardboard tape with holes, according to which the instrument automatically plays individual songs. That is why one of its names is automaton.
Verklík spread in Europe especially in the 18th and 19th centuries. Their sound accompanied life in cities, fairs and celebrations and became a symbol of street music. Today, they are a rare reminder of craftsmanship and musical tradition, which still attracts listeners with its unmistakable charm.
Come and listen to the sound of verklijks, which will be played by verklijkers from several European countries. The program of the concert will consist of works of classical music and we will publish it soon.
The bottles will be spun on Sunday, August 9, 2026 at 4:00 p.m., in Banská Bystrica - Radvani, in the church on Hôrka.
The contribution of the audience to the concert is voluntary, it will be generously received and passed on to our performers.
