The New York trio Vicki Kristina Barcelona's New York trio will be in Prague on 17 September 2025. He transmits the listeners to the world of vagrants, torn poets, players, brawlers, outcasts and beautiful fools. at hand, for example harmonium) what Tom Waits fell in love with. And they also like mystery. By the way, none of them is called Victoria, let alone Kristina or even Barcelona. But it's not cover-band like a cover-band. VKB songs do not take over, they transform them. And their greatest strength is the thoughtful vocal harmony - three -voices. Vicki Kristina Barcelona gave Waits the magic of Gypsy romance, passion and soul's emotion, the light of the gospel religious ecstasy. They approach Waits' anti-heroes or dramatic themes with female leniency, kindness and tenderness-but when needed, so well from the wound. Without idealizing the peculiar characters, but with an understanding of their inner tornness, uncertainty and vulnerable humanity under a hard hipper skin. They soften with their vocals the topics of songs without denying the original sarcasm or the harsh charm of Waits' originals that entered into the wailing of jazz losers pouring their hearts in the flooded corners of shouting neighborhoods, Beatnice intellectual conscience. Tom Waits's songs can't just be taken over and uploaded to the album. The author himself, whose taste is very demanding, must agree. The interpretation of their songbook will not just allow someone. But the VKB Band granted his rare consent. He certainly did not regret it, thanks to his discovery, the debut album VKB, called Pawn Shop Radio (2020), had a positive response. For example, who would think of giving a song like Tango Till They're Sore Balkan or Oriental Colorit? However, gifted musicians are not limited to modifications to songs, revived by their multi-man background. On the last, third long -playing album Crooked Little Heart (2024), there are also the author's pieces of the band members are already among the bands and Murder in the Red Barn. Not bad at all. However, the ladies have a good "teacher". And with them the "service younger" Kirsten Thien. At seventeen she left the house and set out on a journey through Europe, when she made a living in the streets of Venice or Avignon. In Spain, she was adopted by a traveling Roma band playing flamenco. After returning to NYC, Rachelle cooperated with Hazmat Modine or Jack Whit and his wife, singer Karel Elson. Her songs also sing jazz and blues singer Catherine Russell. In addition to dozens of profile albums or common records with singer Carol Lipnik, Rachelle also has experience with the theater. In addition to modifying the Waits' repertoire, her hearts include Klezmer, but also Soul with Latin American infusion or the standards of traditional American pop from Mr. Alley. Rather for the world. It was influenced by many things, but mainly by the nomination between the inspirations of the carnival Rio, Bollywood and the natural Roma weddings. She also releases solo titles, such as Indian popular music dedicated to Till and Reach Bombay, 2014. He has cooperated with legendary songwriters Pet Seeger or Jackson Brown, Gospel Wonder Mavis Staples and no less jazzman Michael Brecker or Toots Thielmans Funk-Soul with Brian Jarvis from 1983 Friend of A Friend). She graduated from the prestigious Washington Georgetown University. But she soon exchanged a linked career on Wall Street for a "school of life" in the role of Blues and Roots rock singer. She released highly rated albums She Really Is (2001), You’ve Got Me (2006), Delicious (2010) or Two Sides (2020). The main thing the ladies in common? Love for freedom and freedom, courage to leave a conventional life and set out on a journey with an uncertain end, but an irresistibly tempting horizon.
