About event

We will start our excursion on Thursday, October 24, at Náměstí Míru at 3:30 p.m. with a brief introduction to the history of Brno's garden city and its school and church institutions. Then we will go on a three-kilometer walk through the places where important Brno personalities of the 20th century lived and worked - Jiří Mahen, František Kožík, Jaroslav Král, Karel Engliš, Arne Novák, Bedřich Macků, František Weyr, Karel Absolon, Sylva Lacinová Jílková and many others . Along the way, we will see the buildings of leading architects Bohuslav Fuchs, Jindřich Kumpošt, Vladimír Fischer, Josef Polášek, Jaroslav Grunt, Miloš Laml, Bedřich Rozehnal, Jan Víšek, Bohumír Čermák, Otto Eisler and others. We will visit the natural monument of Heligoland and the neighboring campus of the Masaryk Oncology Institute and learn about its more than a century of history. We will end our two-hour walk at the foot of the Yellow Hill at the site of the last public gallows in Brno.
