Czech - Slovakia, 2024 | Director: Jiří Mádl

The film depicts the courage of editors who fight for the truth, bring independent messages and refuse to submit the occupation.
The film premiered at Karlovy Vary IFF 1 July 2024, where he won the audience and woke up standing ovation. He became the most visited domestic film of the year (about 886,000 spectators), was a Czech candidate for the Oscar and was a tribute not only in nominations, but also in the prices: won the best film, director, screenplay, music and acting or technical performances on the Czech Lions.
director Jiří Mádl addressed with reality using authentic historical material and detailed portraits of editors (eg Věra Šťovíčková, Luboš Dobrovský), thus creating an emotionally strong and visually impressive film experience. The film combines a political drama with a personal drama of the fraternal relationship, while resonating as a current reminder of freedom of speech and moral courage.
