About event
We invite you to a series of Advent concerts in the Church of St. Jakub. The cycle of four musical evenings will force you to slow down and listen to the peaceful tones resounding through the church, despite the busy city life.
The first concert will feature the wonderful mass of M. Schneider - Trnavský Missa pastoralis "Alma nox" (fertile, good night). The work for mixed choir, orchestra and organ intended for the Christmas season was created in November 1934 and the author incorporated motifs from Slovak carols into it. In addition, the audience will listen to well-known Slovak carols and foreign Christmas songs arranged for choir and orchestra.
The conductor of the concert will be Andrej Rapant.
Voci Allegre (joyous voices in Italian) is the Trnava choir. It deals with a cross-sectional spectrum of the repertoire - from early music through all historical periods to contemporary composers, as well as folk songs and popular music, not leaving out vocal-instrumental works. In In 2023, the choir celebrated its 10th anniversary and at the same time won the Musica Orbis international competition in Prague.
The Trnava Chamber Orchestra is an artistic ensemble that was founded in 1993 as the Orchestra of the Mikuláš Schneider-Trnavský Academy of Arts. From 1999 represents the city of Trnava as the Trnava Chamber Orchestra. Its artistic director is Alžbeta Ševečková. The repertoire of the Trnava Chamber Orchestra consists of works from the Baroque to the present. It is a sought-after body that often premieres the works of contemporary Slovak authors.
