About event

Lecture and subsequent panel

Since the upheavals of 1968 and the second wave of feminism, new approaches to Marx and his economic criticism have developed. In particular, feminist appropriations by Marx ’work had the character of targeted interventions: they questioned supposed certainties by making blind spots visible in both Marxism and Marx himself. It was - and is - not only about the analysis of the capitalist mode of production, but about the criticism of the capitalist method: i.e. the conditions under which workforce and capital not only produce and also maintain and renew every day. It includes the biological and biopolitical reproduction of workers class as well as the reproduction of social conditions: gender roles, family structures, heteronormativity and sexuality. It is important to grasp the naturalization and privatization of these conditions as well as their exploitation (commodification) and their targeted devaluation (decom modification). While queer perspectives primarily analyze the entanglement of class, "race" and gender as well as the bourgeois-capitalist construction of gender difference and the possibility of their subversion, trans*marxism brings a new intolerance into play: the political and theoretical relevance of the marginal, the exceeding and non-fixed. Wave of the enemy of transloating on the connection between gender formation, capitalist socialization and authoritarian reaction. Translability is apparently not a marginal phenomenon, but symptomatic for central mechanisms of capitalism.

We want to examine how feminist, queere and trans perspectives have been associated with Marx ’criticism of capital - and above all how this connection can be fruitful today.
