The Berlin Zoo opened 70 years ago thanks to the support of many volunteers who were involved in the construction. With 160 hectares, the zoo has become the largest European landscape zoo over the past few decades and offers a safe home to around 8,000 animals of over 970 species. The chairman of the support association, Thomas Ziolko, will take a look back at the last seven decades in his lecture and at the same time give an impression of the present.
