Introduction to Prof. Andrzej Nowak
Prof. Andrzej Nowak (born 1960 in Krakow) is one of Poland's most important historians and has been an advisor to the President of the Republic of Poland, Karol Nawrocki, since August 2025. He is a full professor at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow and at the Historical Institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw. His research focuses on the political and intellectual history of Eastern Europe.
Prof. Nowak has taught at leading universities worldwide, including Harvard, Cambridge and Toronto, and has published more than 30 books, including the monumental series The History of Poland. His works are published in numerous languages and by renowned international publishers. For his services he was honored with Poland's highest award: the Order of the White Eagle.
