About event
Come join us to kick off a series of summer movie nights that connect great movies with debates about topics that resonate today.
The first screening will feature The Big Short, an award-winning drama inspired by the true events of the 2008 financial crisis. With insight, dark humor and an all-star cast, it shows how one of the biggest economic disasters in modern history came about - and why we're feeling its effects until today.
🕢 19:30 – opening debate
Even before the screening, we will offer a short debate that will place the film in a wider context. It is moderated by Matěj Schneider, editor of Voxpot, author of podcasts Redneck, Redneck & Beneš, Prompt and newsletter American Idiot. Together we will look at what the story of the financial crisis tells us about today's economy, politics and the United States.
🎥 The screening of the film will be followed by a debate.
