The local committee of the VTIS Association in Austria in cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Vienna cordially invites you to the round table.

Round table: Present your science, art, activity

The local board of the VTIS Society in Austria, in cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of
Slovenia in Vienna, kindly invites you to a round table entitled "VTIS Austria -
Present your science, art, activity". The event will take place on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. in Korotan (Slovenian student dormitory in Vienna).

Three Slovenian experts living in Austria who have
built a successful career and life over the years will present themselves. They will share with us their journey, experiences, advice
and opinions both in the professional and personal fields.

Speakers:
•Mag. Aleksandra Bajde (cultural manager, researcher and composer,
co-founder of Culture and Sustainability Lab)
•Dr. Žiga Škorjanc (doctor of law, Institute for Innovation and Digitization of Law
at the University of Vienna, executive director of lexICT)
•Mag. Tina Žerdin (recognized Slovenian harpist, first harpist in several orchestras
in Vienna, head of the Slovenian Cultural Center Korotan) (18.10-18.20)
•Round table with speakers (6:20-7:20 p.m.)
•Closing (7:20-7:30 p.m.)

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS:

ŽIGA ŠKORJANC

Dr. Žiga Škorjanc has a doctorate in law and is employed as a university assistant, post-doctoral fellow and postdoctoral fellow at the Institute for Innovation and Digitization of Law at the University of Vienna. From December 2022 onwards, he is also the CEO of lexICT in Vienna. He is also a member of the group of legal experts of the Observatory of the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) and a consultant of the Digital Asset Association Austria (DAAA). He completed his graduate studies in law at the University of Vienna with a specialization in corporate and economic law. In 2017, he also passed the law exam at the High Court in Vienna, after which he enrolled in doctoral studies at the University of Vienna. There, he successfully defended his doctoral thesis entitled "The use of artificial intelligence in the financial sector from a legal point of view". His research area mainly covers digital law, personal data protection, artificial intelligence, legal challenges of technology and regulation of the financial sector. dr. Škorjanc participated and still participates in several research projects, and has more than 30 articles and contributions in professional journals, books and collections.


ALEKSANDRA BYD

Mag. Aleksandra Bajde is a Slovenian cultural manager, researcher and interdisciplinary composer and performer who works in Vienna. She graduated in jazz singing from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and obtained a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree in liberal arts and sciences with an emphasis in international relations and sociology from Amsterdam University College. She continued her master's studies with a trilingual program of advanced European and international studies at the European Institute in France and completed her master's studies in composition with honors at the Anton Bruckner Private University in Linz. entitled "Europeanization of cultural diplomacy of small EU member states: comparison of Austria and Slovenia". Her research and teaching areas include European (foreign policy) cultural policy, cultural diplomacy, sustainability in art and the STEAM approach (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics).

Mag. Bajde is the co-founder and director of the Culture and Sustainability Lab and currently works as an office and project manager in the Austrian section of the International Society for Contemporary Music (ISCM). From October 2022 to September 2023, she taught project management for musicians with a focus on sustainability at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. Between 2014 and 2018, she was project manager and secretary at the European Federation of National Youth Orchestras, and before that she gained experience at the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Slovenia in France and at the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Vienna.


TINA ŽERDIN She currently works as first harpist in the orchestras of the Wiener Akademie, the Vienna Chamber Orchestra, the Austro-Hungarian Haydn Philharmonic and the Synchron Stage Orchestra. In addition, she is a frequent guest musician at the Vienna State Opera, People's Opera and other Viennese orchestras. As a solo harpist, she has performed, among others, with the Milan Scala Orchestra, at the Tyrolean Festival and at the National Opera in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. As a soloist and chamber musician, Tina Žerdin is active in many countries of Europe and Asia as well as in the USA. As a soloist with an orchestra, she performed with the RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra, the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra, the Slovenian Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra, the Macedonian Philharmonic, the Vienna Chamber Orchestra, the Oradea State Philharmonic and the Pitești State Philharmonic in Romania, with the Quasars ensemble from Bratislava, the Neue Streicher and Kontrapunkte orchestras from Vienna and with the National Opera Philharmonic and Orchestra in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. As an interpreter of contemporary music, since 2017 she has been a concert and teaching member of the internationally very active quartet airborne extended, with which she recently received the Austrian state award "Outstanding artist 2025". She regularly collaborates with ensembles for new and experimental music as one of the most important interpreters of contemporary Slovenian music, with a rich discography and numerous radio and CD recordings. Among other things, she also released two CDs with Slovenian music for the harp in cooperation with RTV Slovenia and the Society of Slovenian Composers. From 2024, Tina Žerdin heads the Slovenian Cultural Center Korotan in Vienna.
