----WORKSHOP CALLIGRAPHY on the occasion of Chinese New Year. ---
Come and learn to write in a style that is the origin of Chinese, Japanese or Korean calligraphy.
Create a seal that gives your works a touch of originality.
The zhuanshu (pronounced "zhuanshu") calligraphy style was used in ancient China for divination rituals and later to maintain the imperial archive.
To this day, these characters are still popular as seal script, written with a brush or engraved, most often in stone seals.
We write characters with a calligraphic brush and ink on special paper. They are easy to handle even for beginners in Eastern calligraphy.
More advanced calligraphers will appreciate both the variety of the script and the understanding of the historical roots in the evolution of calligraphy.
We will create several wishes for the Chinese New Year on decorative paper.
At the workshop you will also learn about the creation of red seals, which are part of the masterpieces of calligraphers and ink paintings.
You will make your own ceramic stamp (or even two), which we will fire.
Lecturer: Stella Nedbajevska
Stella is a Ukrainian artist (temporarily living in Bratislava). She has been intensively engaged in Eastern calligraphy for over 10 years, she taught calligraphy in Kyiv. She is the author of publications on Chinese poetry, calligraphy and ceramic art.
