About event
The workshop is focused on the continuation of the introduction to the singing of folk and modal music of Eastern traditions. This time we will also include Moravian/Czech materials.
In the first part, you will try the singing technique in Eastern music: registers and colors of the voice, its resonance and projection, specific ornamentation and vocal effects.
In the second part, we will discuss ensemble repertoire from areas such as the Balkans, Turkey/Greece, Central Asia, etc. with possible harmonization. We will also explain untempered tuning (microtonality), modes (makamas) and basic motivic improvisation in them and work with rhythmic clave in odd meter.
We will conduct the workshop in tandem with @Silva Morasten. We are experienced lecturers of individual and group lessons and vocal workshops on various topics in the field of Western and Eastern music.
The price for an active participant is 1900 and for a passive participant 950 CZK. (The passive participant does not receive feedback, only follows the learning process of others - sings only with the collective, does not practice techniques individually under supervision.)
