About event
Screening of the documentary with a subsequent debate as part of the Prague Pride festival
Aula, room P131, Charles University, Faculty of Arts, nám. Jana Palacha 1/2
Organized by the expert section on gender, sexual and relational diversity (GSVR) at the Czech-Moravian Psychological Society (ČMPS) under the auspices of the Faculty of Philosophy of the Charles University.
While society has still not been able to fulfill the ideal of equality between women and men, it faces a new challenge: the growing insecurity of young men who are looking for their place in a changing world. Between the pressure to perform, the stereotypical idea of strength and the absence of words for one's own emotions, a space is created that is often filled with frustration, closed-mindedness or radicalizing patterns.
The documentary from the Czech Television series Zone of Interest follows four young people - Diviš, Matěj, Herbert and Hermín - who decided to explore this situation through their own theatrical performance. Following their previous production about women, this time they turn their attention to boys and men: their vulnerabilities, inner conflicts and silent crises, which are often not talked about. education?
And what would a society look like that allows boys to be not only strong, but also sensitive, doubting and searching?
Educating boys for the future is not a generational declaration of guilt or conflict, but an attempt to understand. It offers a space in which young people can formulate their own experience - and perhaps even indicate a way out of the tension that today shapes the relations between men and women and the shape of society as a whole.
Expert voices also play an important role in the film, anchoring the topic in a wider context. Psychologist Mgr. Jiří Procházka, historian prof. Dr. Phil. Rudolf Kučera, Ph.D., costume designer MgA. Jana Hauskrechtová and teacher Mgr. Vít Slíva offer different perspectives on changes in masculinity, education and social structures.
The following will discuss:
– young people from the documentary
– director Andrea Culková
– psychologist Lenka Formánková
– psychologist Jiří Procházka
Moderator: Honza Vojtko, psychotherapist
Entrance is free, the event is English friendly (the film will have English subtitles, interpretation of the debate self-help).
