This year, together with other cities, we will join the university strike for the climate in the days before and after November 17✊ Because we are convinced that the best way to honor the legacy of the Velvet Revolution is to actively and collectively strive for a better, more democratic and fairer future , in which all people can live a good life without feeling insecure and threatened.
🌿18.-19. November, in the atrium of the Faculty of Social Studies, we will educate ourselves in a non-violent, peaceful and welcoming way about crises and the system that does not solve them, but instead causes them and deepens them more and more. We want to look under the hood of a world that is based on exceeding planetary limits and rising social inequalities. The central topic for us remains the climate crisis, which is no longer a question of the distant future, but a threatening present. This is evidenced by this year's devastating floods, forest fires, tornadoes and hurricanes, as well as temperature records.
🌪️With a strike, we are taking back the public and media space over which the (not only fossil) oligarchs have power. It is precisely the coal barons and fossil corporations that plunder natural resources with their dirty business without bearing any responsibility for it. Their profits grow at the expense of everyone else who*re living in a world full of uncertainties, whether due to rising food prices, housing, frustration with the arrogance of political representation or increasingly frequent extreme weather fluctuations.
💫 It is important for us to learn together that we are not alone in this situation. That NOW is the time to connect, connect and be loud. 👉With the strike, we are not defining ourselves against university structures, on the contrary: we are talking about cooperation across the academic community with other members of the university, which we create together - school management, teachers, staff👈
♥️We still believe that a different world is possible. Our vision is a company that respects planetary limits and places sustainability and justice at the center of its operations. We want a world where economic profits are not superior to human needs, the environment and the rights of future generations.
