Výstava Antonín Šuman: hlavní osobnost poválečného ohýbaného nábytku na veletrhu MOBITEX

The exhibition was prepared in 2024 for the 100th anniversary of the birth of Antonín Šuman, one of the three post -war designers of the national enterprise TON, which in the 1960s significantly influenced the form of bent furniture. Rudolf Šmerda in Montenegro, after the war graduated from the State Central School of Housing Industry (1945–1947). In 1949 he joined the national company Thonet, in 1954 renamed Ton; Here he worked in the planning department, as a designer and designer until retirement in 1983. His name appears under more than 650 proposals, a large number of them were included in series production. Chairs, armchairs, but also rocking chairs, tables and tables "Šuman brand" have become the basis of the production assortment of the national enterprise TON, especially in the 1950s and 60s. At the age of 60, with Radomir Hofman, later in cooperation with Josef Mack, Šuman tirelessly developed new production patterns; Forty of them received significant awards at domestic and foreign exhibitions. Along with the new models, Antonín Šuman also worked on the modification of old patterns No. 14, 18, 6030, 6031, 811. He collaborated with a number of architects on furniture equipment to the reconstructed buildings of the Congress Center in Prague (1980), the National Theater (1983), Hotů Prague, Slovan in Brno, Děvín in Bratislava.
