About event
A photo of a Roma who proudly poses with a fishing catch in front of his own car? Today, nothing exceptional today, but in the time of socialism, such a film seemed almost science fiction. Andrej Pešta, one of the few Roma photographers, captured the life of his community in Czechoslovakia quite differently than the company used to be. He did not shoot misery and folklore, but everyday. Without pathos, exotization or false compassion. Roma showed like ordinary people with ordinary hobbies.
His biggest was photography, although he was also a writer, artist and involved in the ethnoemicipation movement. Its extensive archive is preserved by the Museum of Roma Culture. The Baro Frajeris exhibition in the Prague Gallery Photographer, under the leadership of curator Emílie Rigová, opens a selection. A quiet, black and white world that speaks aloud even after years. The exhibition will be accompanied by excellent guitarist Tibor Jew. Be there!
Entry is free. 😊 That Would Probably Be Nothing Extraordinary Today, But in the Days of Socialism, Such and Picture Was Almost Like Science Fiction.
