▪️ For many years, Běla Kolářová worked in the shadow of her prominent husband, Jiří Kolář. We will take a closer look at the years of her artistic emancipation, her specific and original work in which she works with themes traditionally associated with women's destiny.
After the successful first cycle of lectures dedicated to female visual artists creating in the 20th century, which we held last year started the operation of the restored sculpture studio of Věra and Vladimír Janoušková, we are listing its second year. Historically, women artists became in the shadow of their male colleagues, in many countries they were forbidden to study at art academies, and their artistic emancipation was often thorny. Our series will once again present you with a varied mix of portraits of Czech and Czechoslovakian female artists - painters, sculptors, illustrators, architects and designers, in which we will deal with their creative work, but also with the context of the time and environment in which they lived and worked. The goal of the lecture series is not the first-rate adoration of women artists, but rather the repayment of a certain debt in the public's awareness of their artistic work.
