▪️ The clearly recognizable artistic expression of Míla Doležalová only came to public attention in the last few years. Distinctive colors, the fate of ethnic minorities, life in seclusion, inspiration from Mexican muralists - these are some of the topics of the fourth lecture of the cycle They came out of the shadows II.

After the successful first cycle of lectures dedicated to female visual artists creating in the 20th century, which we started the operation of the restored sculpture studio of Věra and Vladimír Janoušková last year, we are listing its second year. Historically, women artists became in the shadow of their male colleagues, in many countries they were forbidden to study at art academies, and their artistic emancipation was often thorny. Our cycle will once again present you with a varied mix of portraits of Czech and Czechoslovakian female artists - painters, sculptors, illustrators, architects and designers, in which we will deal with their creative work, but also with the context of the time and environment in which they lived and worked. The goal of the lecture series is not the first-rate adoration of women artists, but rather the repayment of a certain debt in the public's awareness of their artistic work.
