▪️ Illustrations of Helena Zmatlíková accompanied the first reading of children of several Czechoslovak generations. What was their originality and attraction, what was the fate of their authors and can these illustrations address contemporary children in the current flood of innovative children's books? We will also discover these topics at the next lecture on the cycle. Historically, women became artists in the shadow of their male colleagues, in many countries they were forbidden to study at art academies and their artistic emancipation used to be thorny. Our cycle will again introduce you to a varied mix of portraits of Czech and Czechoslovak artists - painters, sculptors, illustrators, architects and dyzajnérk, in which we will deal with their arts, but also the context of the time and environment in which they lived and worked. The aim of the lecture cycle is not the first adoration of women artists, much rather repayment of a certain debt in the public awareness of their art work.
