Today we are undoubtedly living in the age of artificial intelligence (AI) and in education, we are preparing for the process of radical digital transformation. Rather challenging times are waiting especially for teachers of foreign languages, because it is no exaggeration to say that generative artificial intelligence (GenAI), i.e. computer programs capable of quickly, independently and efficiently creating original texts in any language, has turned the world of foreign language education upside down. As part of our seminars, we will remind ourselves of where we have come in foreign language education with AI, and then, using practical examples and model situations, we will show how an English teacher can use AI as an ally and helper in lesson preparation, as a quiet but effective teacher's assistant in managing work in inclusive classes with different types of students, as an attractive teaching aid directly in the classroom, and we will also outline how we can involve GenAI as a support to students' extracurricular activities.
