About event

We are preparing a new lecture on the topic "Using cognitive maps in spatial orientation of people with visual impairment"! Miroslav Macík Ph.D., who works at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Czech Technical University and is a member of the research group Human-Computer Interaction Group🧑. It deals with the spatial orientation of the blind and creates systems that make it easier for people with visual impairment in space. Effective orientation is based on the creation and continuous refinement of the mental idea of the environment - the so -called cognitive maps 🗺️.
The lecture will focus on practical ways to create these maps in blind and partially sighted, how their creation can be supported and what strategies are in spatial orientation. Specific projects and tools will be presented that use interactive tactile maps, audio interfaces or various environmental modifications.
The final part will offer the perspective of the blind guest who, based on his own experience, will describe key moments and obstacles in the orientation in space. Faculty of Electrical Engineering CTU in Dejvice, room T2: C3-135
⏰ When? 29.5.2025, 18:00
🎟️ The lecture is as always free of charge.
