Význam a ochrana bežných druhov vtákov v mestskom prostredí

Common species of birds that we perceive as a natural part of everyday life - for example the great tit, white tit, black thrush, common magpie, common jay, wood warbler - play an important ecological role in the urban environment. They participate in the regulation of insect populations, the spread of seeds and contribute to the maintenance of the biological balance in cities.

A lecture focusing on these species will point out that city parks, gardens, tree rows and inner-block greenery represent key refuges for nesting and survival. The protection and support of suitable biotopes, such as the preservation of old trees, hollows, shrubbery or the installation of huts, is essential for maintaining species diversity even in built-up areas. The urban environment does not have to be an obstacle to biodiversity, but can become a full-fledged space for the life of birds and people.

We invite you on March 25, 2026 at 5 p.m. to a lecture by ornithologist Imrich Kováč from SOS/BirdLife Slovakia, who will answer your questions about the importance of common bird species in the urban environment.
