Wandeling - Ik Ben Hier met Emile Miedema

Walk on Sunday 23 March 2025 with the artist past the new exhibition in the Bellamy cabinet. We gather outside at home at Huis van de Havelaar district, Douwes Dekkerstraat 2. There we start with a cup of tea/coffee and a snack. It lasts until 1 pm at the latest.

For the Bellamy Cabinet, Emile Miedema is looking for something to set up his camera in the neighborhood for a month a week.

Miedema discovers how fixed routes help to surrender to the moment. Just be present, look, and dare to aim the camera. A plant that he wants to photograph again a day later turns out to be rigorous pruning. Two vacuum cleaners in a shop window turn around each other every day. People appeal to him, sometimes he gets very close and there is uncomfortable, but occasionally a barrier disappears. The weather conditions in the darkest time of the year and photographic technology give the images a moody atmosphere. Hundreds of images form a report of his presence. Sometimes it is downright beautiful, sometimes funny.

The spectacular is the fact that Emile was used to.
Due to his physical presence in the neighborhood, he creates a meditative work. It reminds of the richness of the everyday, the time that passes, and the continuous interaction between people and their environment.
